The site has a long industrial history throughout the 20th century, at different points used as foundry, machine shop, bulk oil and diesel storage. This industrial history along with a shallow water table resulted in a site design utilizing a cleansing wetland stratify to absorb contaminates from solids and ground water prior to leaving the site.
Located along the Razorback Greenway, the site design concept also revolved around the need for a clear circulation layout for motorist, cyclists, and pedestrians as well as gathering space for students.
