"Trail Professional of the Year" Awarded to studioDRIFT Director

studioDRIFT Director Receives "Trail Professional of the Year" Award for Work in the Arkansas Delta

We are thrilled to announce that Ammen Jordan, director of studioDRIFT, has been awarded the Trail Professional of the Year by the Arkansas Trails Council for his efforts on the Crowley's Ridge Gravel Trail. This honor is a powerful endorsement of the trail's quality and significance, solidifying its reputation as a true destination for cyclists, hikers, and explorers.

“This award establishes the CRGT as a credible and professionally developed asset for Arkansas. It tells the world that this isn't just a route; it's a carefully crafted experience that showcases the unique beauty and rich culture of the Delta” said Martin Smith, founding board member of studioDRIFT.

The Arkansas Trails Council's award recognizes trail professionals that demonstrate a deep commitment to advancing the state's trail network. This recognition validates studioDRIFT’s work in meticulously planning and developing the 249-mile CRGT, which has transformed an ancient geological formation into a world-class gravel biking destination.

“This award isn't just a trophy; it's a testament to the trail's professional design, strategic execution, and the immense value it brings to the Arkansas Delta community. A direct response to decades of economic and health decline.” Added Martin.

“This award acknowledges my passion for building trails meant to foster the community’s enjoyment and appreciation for the countryside, develop an affinity for it, and to help make sure the landscape is conserved in the future. CRGT is more than just a recreational path; it's a source of cultural pride and an economic artery. CRGT gives the community a dedicated place for healthy active lifestyles while attracting adventurous visitors, supporting our local businesses, creating jobs, and showcasing the Delta's grit and elegance,” said Ammen

“The CRGT winds through the unique landscapes of Crowley's Ridge, a landform rising dramatically from the surrounding flat Delta. As you ride or hike, you'll be immersed in a blend of natural beauty and rich cultural heritage. Native American trade routes, followed by trappers, pioneers and civil war cannons, the trail traverses rugged, rolling hills, dense hardwood forests, and peaceful farmlands. The elevation gains offer breathtaking views across the Delta, providing a sense of escape and adventure right in our own backyard” added Ammen.

The CRGT connects 18 Delta towns, taking you on a journey through history – visitors can take in significant cultural sites like roots music landmarks, Civil War battlefields, and even the home where Ernest Hemingway wrote A Farewell to Arms. The trail also highlights local businesses, including James Beard Award-winning Jones Bar-B-Q, Delta Dirt Distillery – the nations only black-family owned farm to bottle distillery - and other unique craft businesses.
