EDG & studioDRIFT Join the Arkansas Graveler

In the heart of the Natural State, a new tradition is taking root, one that celebrates the rugged beauty of Arkansas' countryside and the spirit of community that thrives here. The Arkansas Graveler, an annual gravel cycling festival presented by The Ozark Foundation, has quickly become a beacon for outdoor enthusiasts seeking to experience the state's distinctive landscape and cultural heritage.

At Ecological Design Group, we are committed to purposeful and low-impact design that facilitates meaningful shared experiences and healthy active lifestyles. This way of designing is having a lasting impact on the entire state of Arkansas. To accelerate the reach in rural and resource-constrained parts of the state, EDG established studioDRIFT; a non-profit organization dedicated to strengthening Arkansas Delta communities through the development of rural infrastructure and promoting outdoor recreation. EDG and studioDRIFT founders, Martin Smith and Tanner Weeks, along with studioDRIFT Executive Director, Ammen Jordan, were thrilled to participate in the first ever Arkansas Graveler event and support another non-profit with a mission that aligns closely with our own.

A Journey Through Arkansas' Hidden Treasures

The Arkansas Graveler is more than just a cycling event; it's a journey deep into what makes our state one of gravel's best-kept secrets. The route, which will change annually, weaves through scenic state parks and public lands, offering riders an immersive experience in Arkansas' natural beauty. From the Ozark Mountains to the expansive Arkansas Delta farmlands, each mile of the route told a story of the land and its people.

Strengthening Bonds Through Shared Missions

This event was particularly special for EDG and studioDRIFT, as we believe in the power of outdoor recreation to connect people and build stronger communities. Our participation wasn't just about the ride; it was a demonstration of commitment to community giveback and the promotion of outdoor activities that bring people together. It was an opportunity to support our friends at The Ozark Foundation and their endeavors.

By joining forces, we can amplify our impact and foster a culture of collaboration and mutual support.

The Arkansas Graveler exemplifies the shift in outdoor recreation across Arkansas, highlighting how events like these can bring people from diverse backgrounds together to celebrate and preserve the state's natural and cultural resources. It's a testament to what can be achieved when communities unite with a shared purpose.

Looking to the Future: A Vision for Collaboration

As we reflect on the success of the Arkansas Graveler, we are excited to continue pushing towards studioDRIFT’s mission in the Delta region while supporting other organizations with similar goals. The success of these endeavors allow for even more opportunities for outdoor enthusiasts to explore, connect, and give back. Together, we amplify our reach, collaborating on initiatives that directly benefit rural communities and highlight the best of what rural Arkansas has to offer.

studioDRIFT’s vision is one where every gravel road, every trail, every waterway, every small town, and all public land become destinations that foster stronger and more resilient local communities. Working together leads to even greater achievements and ensures that the beauty and heritage of the Natural State is appreciated and protected for future generations to enjoy.

As we pedal forward, let us continue to embrace the power of outdoor recreation to bring people together, create lasting memories, and build a brighter future for all Arkansans.

We look forward to seeing our cycling community friends and family at the next event. Stay tuned for Birdeye Gravel 2024 details!
