Landscape Architecture Magazine featured an article in February on the pace at which sustainable design is surpassing the ability of traditional landscape management. This article highlights EDG and our attempts at ensuring the plants that we use establish properly for the lasting success of our clients and our mission of healing Arkansas. In the past, our co-founder Martin Smith had seen how easily even the most thoughtful designs can lose their ecological value if maintenance crews aren’t trained to properly care for native species.
That’s why we’ve made maintenance a core part of our design process, through our sister-company Native Restoration and Management. This team is led by horticulture expert Cody George, who helps guide plant selection, soil preparation, and long-term care from day one. By working closely with maintenance teams and staying involved well beyond project completion, NRM helps to ensure the landscapes EDG designs continue to thrive exactly as intended.
