FERNCLIFF STREAM RESTORATION

Ferncliff Stream, located in the heart of a youth church summer camp, is essential to the daily experience of the camp users as well as the surrounding flora and fauna. Historically manufactured lakes that disturbed the natural flow along the stream have become filled with sediment and sludge over time, a hallmark of aquatic imbalance.

This design proposal seeks to restore the natural flow of the original stream through rock vanes and ripple pools while creating numerous education opportunities. A pollinator meadow re-introduces native species and provides enrichment through bio-diversity. The redesign also allows for greater connection of existing camp facilities.

This project has the chance to create a massive positive impact not only on the surrounding environment but the minds of the hundreds of youth who visit this camp every year.
