ONE JONESBORO

The ONE Jonesboro Masterplan proposes a shift away from Jonesboro's current motor vehicle-centered design and introduces a shift to multimodal active transit infrastructure. It proposes a phased approach that would create a network of connective corridors that would radiate from the downtown towards the city's main public parks and a regional loop trail that utilizes existing rail and utility easements.

The connectivity plan also includes Brookland, Paragould, Lake Frierson State Park, Crowley’s Ridge State Park, and Bono Lake. Crowley’s Ridge is a small yet distinguishing natural region that ranges from one to twelve miles wide. With an elevation rising some 500 feet above the Mississippi Alluvial floodplain, it stretches from Helena to Chalk Bluff north of Piggott, Arkansas. As the Red Wolf once roamed this land, these paths have remained as trading routes, a civil war trail, and county gravel lanes.

Through the mapping and routing of these historic paths, Jonesboro and the Red Wolf Way are a vital hub for the evolution of the Crowley’s Ridge Gravel Trail, a trail extending 250 miles and with over 10,000 feet of elevation change. This route connects 5 State Parks and 11 rural Arkansas Delta communities. While working with the City of Jonesboro, seven counties and eleven municipalities, this vital hub and connected network provide immense opportunities. The natural assets and authentic culture of the region may provide an economic resurgence in the form of outdoor recreation along the same paths the Red Wolf once roamed.
